Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar browser technologies used by Pinitup.
Last updated: 16 August 2026
1. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small pieces of information stored by your browser. Pinitup also uses browser storage such as localStorage for preferences. In this policy, we refer to both cookies and similar browser storage technologies together where appropriate.
2. Essential technologies
These are used to provide features you request, remember essential settings, or protect the service. They are not switched off by rejecting analytics.
| Name / technology | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
pinitup.session | Keeps you securely signed in to your Pinitup account. | Configured for a 14-day session period, subject to an absolute session limit. |
pinitup.external | Temporary cookie used during the Google sign-in flow. | Temporary authentication flow. |
pinitup.csrf | Helps protect authenticated actions against cross-site request forgery. | Security/session related. |
pinitup.analytics | Stores whether you accepted or rejected optional analytics so we can respect your choice. | Up to 180 days. |
pinitup-theme (localStorage) | Remembers whether you selected light or dark mode. | Until you change it or clear browser storage. |
3. Optional analytics
If you select Accept & Continue, Pinitup enables PostHog product analytics. PostHog may use browser storage identifiers so we can measure things such as page views, prompt views, copies, saves, shares and searches. Our current integration does not enable session recording or automatic click capture.
If you select Reject & Continue, Pinitup keeps PostHog event capture opted out on that device.
4. Google sign-in
If you choose to sign in with Google, you are redirected to Google. Google may use cookies or other technologies on its own domains according to its own privacy and cookie practices.
5. Changing your choice
After you make a choice, a settings icon appears in the lower corner of Pinitup. Open it at any time to enable or disable optional analytics and to return to this Cookie Policy or the Privacy Policy.
You can also clear cookies and local storage using your browser settings. Clearing them may sign you out or reset preferences such as your theme and analytics choice.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when we add, remove or change technologies used by Pinitup. The updated date at the top of this page shows when this policy was last revised.
